This sermon is week 3 of The God of Glory section of our “The God(ness) of God” sermon series. It is an exegetical treatment of Romans 9:14-19, addressing the themes
God’s justice, God doing everything for his glory, the stories of Moses and Pharaoh’s encounters with God, and the great merciful compassion of God. This sermon was originally preached April 27th, 2008 at The Resolved Church in San Diego, CA.
One of the best ways to understand the culture we live in is to watch it’s movies. You can watch movies and find pleasure through the entertainment they provide, but there is also a step beyond that in watching a movie critically. Saint Augustine believed all things (including literature, film, music, art, etc.) should be enjoyed, as well as “used” to bring us closer to God, the true object of “enjoyment.” 
Yes “hodgepodge” is a real word. Pronounced ˈhäj-päj deriving its etymological roots from a 15th century alteration of “hotchpotch” meaning a heterogeneous (different things) mixture. My entry from last week (
An 8 part sermon series addressing the suffering and the glory of God. The sermons are an exegetical treatment of Romans 8:18-39. The sermons address things like the relation of natural evil and moral evil to God, the longing for new physical bodies which do not get diseased and die, the help of the Holy Spirit when suffering, how God works things for good and who for, God’s goal of using suffering to make us like Jesus, predestination, the very existence of God when suffering is, and all barriers which attempt to separate us from the love of God.
